Mike Kerr
On this day 19/06/1990: Mike Kerr was born. He was born in Worthing, West Sussex. As a child, he used to practice magic tricks. He was brought up a strict christian, until the age of 16. In around 2005 he first met Ben Thatcher. They were briefly in a band called Flavour Country, where Mike would play keyboards. He would first use the band name Royal Blood when he went to Australia on sabbatical for nine months. Working with Matt Swan on drums.
On returning to England, Thatcher picked him up from the airport and they decided to form a band. In 2013 they spent a lot of there time rehearsing in Brighton's Electric's rehearsal rooms, whilst struggling to find gigs. During this time though they were picked up and signed by Warner/Chappell. Later that year they released their first single "Out of the Black" and were nominated for BBC Sound of 2014. In 2014 they released their debut album "Royal Blood". It was well received and was even commended by Jimmy Page, who said "I went to hear them in New York. They were fantastic. Absolutely riveting, they're such fine musicians. Their album has taken the genre up a serious few notches. It's so refreshing to hear, because they play with the spirit of the things that have preceded them, but you can hear they're going to take rock into a new realm – if they're not already doing that. It's music of tremendous quality.".
In 2015 they won Best British Group at The Brit Awards. By the end of 2015 they were back in the recording studio to record their second album and released new track "Where are you Now" in March 2016.
