On This Day 06/02/1958: George Harrison joined the Quarry Men which would later become the Beatles. Harrison was a few days short of his 15th birthday. Harrison already knew McCartney for a year, they both went to the Liverpool Institute and were friends. Harrison was auditioned on the top floor of a double-decker bus.
